This is the first time that a Formula 1 vehicle driven by Lewis Hamilton is being offered for sale to the general public. The car in question is a Mercedes F1 W04, piloted by Lewis Hamilton during the 2013 season.
More specifically, it is the fourth chassis, which not only secured the Briton pole position at the Hungarian Grand Prix but also earned him his sole victory that season, dominated by Red Bull and Sebastian Vettel.
In 2013, Hamilton surprised everyone by switching from McLaren to the then-underestimated Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 team. However, what happened from 2014 onwards is well-known to all – the beginning of one of the most dominant streaks in Formula 1 history.
What makes the Mercedes F1 W04 even more coveted is the fact that it hails from the last season of Formula 1 with race cars equipped with V8 engines. Starting from 2014, the series mandated teams to transition to V6 turbocharged engines.
Hamilton’s car featured a naturally aspirated 2.4-liter V8 engine with a glorious sound, capable of producing over 800 horsepower. This highly collectible Formula 1 car will be auctioned by RM Sotheby’s during the Las Vegas Grand Prix next month, with estimates indicating it could fetch between $10 million and $15 million.
A true piece of motorsport history that will undoubtedly capture the attention of enthusiasts and collectors worldwide.
